Being consistent can be a huge challenge, but it need not be, if we have the right attitude & understanding of it!
These three ways have personally helped me remain consistent to a large extent with almost any new thing I set out to do.
1️- Breath Awareness - A few minutes of breath awareness, practised multiple times a day, brings you to the present moment, where you can be fully engaged with your task at hand. You gain mental clarity on what you want to achieve and why, which helps you organise yourself better. You eventually feel less anxious about the minor disappointments along the way & remain positive about the long-term outcomes of your goal. This is definitely the most effective way to sustain consistency with any goal.
s2️- Forgiving and Rewarding Yourself - We often forget how necessary it is to acknowledge how far forward we’ve moved with our plan and how much we might’ve learned through our perceived failures. Some of us even resist setting goals for the fear of failing! So, affirming successes however little they may seem, as well as forgiving yourself, will not just help you recover from setbacks, but also sustain consistency for the long run.
3️- Community Support - Support goes a long way in sustaining consistency. We don’t have to do it alone or feel alone through the process. It’s helpful to reach out to groups of people or a person with similar goal/s to share and learn from experiences. You can also request a family member or a friend to be accountable to, so you can stay on track with your plan in case you fall out. Reach out and create a support system of any kind to help you stay consistent.
Remember.. always focus on the process and not on perfection.
